The Menstrual Health and Education Initiative is led by Lutino Adunu in Northern Uganda and supported by the GO Fund. The program combines menstrual health education, peer advocacy, and hands-on training in the production of reusable sanitary pads to address period poverty and its impact on girls’ education and well-being.

In 2024, the GO Fund funded a district-wide research study in Nwoya District to assess the educational, health, and social impacts of reusable sanitary pads among schoolgirls. The study was conducted by Matrice360 Uganda in partnership with Lutino Adunu and supported by the Davis Family Foundation. Preliminary findings indicate improved school attendance, increased confidence, and better academic focus among girls who received training and pads.

More than 6,000 participants, including girls, youth, teachers, and parents, have been reached through training and sensitization activities across Northern Uganda. The study is being monitored by national stakeholders and has attracted interest for potential scale-up to inform government policy and programming on menstrual health and education.
