Gift a Goat is a women-led livestock program in Kenya and Ghana that equips participants with training and goats to build long-term income, food security, and economic independence.
Gift a Goat is one of GO Fund’s longest-running and most impactful initiatives, implemented in partnership with Dupoto Flourish Africa. The program operates in both Kenya and Ghana, where women are trained in animal husbandry and are gifted a goat as a starting point for building lasting wealth.
The model is simple and powerful: each woman commits to passing the first offspring to another woman, creating a chain of opportunity across the community. After nearly 20 years, the results speak for themselves: many early participants have used the program to buy land, send their children to school, and grow thriving herds.
In 2024, 32 new goats were distributed to women in need. Every recipient reinvested their income into household essentials or small businesses, showing just how transformative a single goat can be.
